Hands-On STEM Learning Takes Center Stage at H.A.R.T. High School
On Tuesday, August 4, the Gedeon GRC team visited H.A.R.T. High School to introduce students to the exciting world of bridge engineering through a hands-on learning experience that combined education, creativity, and teamwork.
The session began with Rudy Gedeon, PE, President & CEO of Gedeon GRC, who provided an overview of bridge engineering, explaining the different types of bridges, their key components, and real-world examples of how bridges connect communities and support infrastructure every day.
Students then put their newfound knowledge into action during an interactive workshop led by Janny Gédéon, Founder & President of Arch for Kids. Through demonstrations and group activities, students explored bridge design concepts before working in teams to design and construct bridges of their own.
The highlight of the day was the bridge-building competition, where students showcased their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. After careful evaluation, Group #5 was voted the winner, with Group #3 finishing as a close runner-up. As a special reward, Gedeon GRC's Robotics team will bring Group #5's winning design to life through 3D printing.
The event provided students with an opportunity to experience engineering beyond the classroom while developing skills in teamwork, critical thinking, and design. Seeing students transform engineering concepts into tangible projects was a powerful reminder of the impact that hands-on STEM education can have on inspiring the next generation of innovators.
A special thank you to H.A.R.T. High School and Arch for Kids for helping make this engaging and memorable experience possible!
