While roadways and sidewalks are the most visible aspects of infrastructure improvements, some of the most important work happens below the surface.

Last week, Gedeon GRC team members were on site as crews conducted excavation and installation work for a chute connection at the southwest corner of Ely Avenue & Bartow Avenue as part of the Reconstruction of Bruner Avenue & Ely Avenue Project in the Bronx. This critical underground work will help connect catch basins to the sewer system, improving stormwater management and helping reduce localized flooding throughout the surrounding community.

Led by the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC), the larger infrastructure initiative includes the reconstruction of Bruner Avenue, Ely Avenue, and portions of Allerton Avenue. The project is designed to bring roadways, sidewalks, and underground utilities into a state of good repair while enhancing accessibility, safety, and long-term resilience for residents and visitors.

In addition to the ongoing work at Ely Avenue & Bartow Avenue, the project includes street restoration efforts and the full reconstruction of Bartow Avenue and Allerton Avenue, representing a significant investment in the Bronx's infrastructure for years to come.

Representing Gedeon GRC in the field are Berioska Diaz and Jonathan Mobisa, Construction Inspectors, who are featured in the project photos. As onsite Construction Inspectors, Berioska and Jonathan help monitor construction activities, document progress, and support quality assurance efforts throughout the project lifecycle.

As construction advances, this project continues to demonstrate how strategic infrastructure investments strengthen communities by improving essential services that residents rely on every day, even when the work itself remains largely unseen once complete.
