Learning Takes Flight at H.A.R.T. High School
Members of Gedeon GRC's Robotics team recently visited H.A.R.T. High School to give students an exciting look at how drone technology is being used to support engineering and infrastructure projects.
During the visit, Miles Kilcourse, Director of Research & Robotics Services, and Antron Anderson, Senior Drone Pilot, conducted a live façade inspection of the school using a Skydio drone. Students watched the inspection unfold in real time, gaining firsthand insight into how drones help professionals safely collect data, assess building conditions, and improve the efficiency of inspections.
The demonstration highlighted the growing role of advanced technologies in the engineering industry and provided students with a practical understanding of how STEM concepts are applied in the field.
To close out the day, the team introduced students to the Elios 3, a specialized confined-space drone designed to operate in challenging indoor environments. Students observed a live inspection of the school's gymnasium, showcasing how the Elios 3 can safely capture detailed inspection data in areas that may be difficult to access using traditional methods.
The visit was a great opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world applications while inspiring students to explore future careers in engineering, robotics, and technology. Through experiences like these, Gedeon GRC continues to support STEM education and help cultivate the next generation of innovators.
