Gedeon GRC is proud to celebrate another milestone for our Traffic Engineering Team with their contributions to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (MTA) Park Avenue Viaduct (PAV) Replacement project, a transformative infrastructure effort that helps keep New York City moving safely and efficiently.
The project was completed in two phases, with remarkable results. Phase 1, spanning East 115th Street to East 123rd Street, was completed in October 2025, 21 months ahead of schedule. Phase 2, spanning East 127th Street to East 132nd Street, reached completion last month, an impressive 60 months ahead of schedule.
As a subconsultant to AECOM, Gedeon GRC provided comprehensive traffic engineering design support throughout the project. Our team played a key role in delivering solutions that supported traffic operations, pedestrian safety, and construction coordination during this complex undertaking. Services included:
- Traffic studies
- Work zone traffic control
- Traffic signal design
- Roadway lighting
- Pavement markings
- Signing
- Parking lot design
- Permit support
To help assess traffic and pedestrian impacts throughout construction, the team utilized Synchro traffic analysis software to model and evaluate local street conditions. These simulations provided valuable insights that informed planning decisions and helped maintain safe and efficient traffic flow during project activities.
This achievement marks another industry-recognized success for Gedeon GRC's Traffic Engineering Team, led by Zafar Iqbal, PE, PTOE, Director of Traffic Engineering. The Park Avenue Viaduct Replacement project represents the third award-winning project supported by our team, joining both the HP3 project and PAV Phase 1 in receiving industry recognition. Congratulations to Zafar and everyone involved in delivering innovative transportation solutions that enhance safety, mobility, and long-term infrastructure performance. Your dedication and expertise continue to make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
